Bad Girls Do Cry is a perfect example of a classic exploitation movie of the Fifties’. From top to bottom, it is laced with all the icons these movies made infamous and it does it with style; cheap style! Director Sid Melton and his crew do wonders with what was obviously a budget just North of nothing. The entire movie is overdubbed, and every trick in the book is used to cover actors mouth’s while they talk. You know, so we won’t notice that everything is overdubbed. Which is impossible! Camera cut a-ways defy convention by actually often only show the person NOT talking. It almost feels French, which means it sucks, but it sucks in a pretty way. But French is not Schadenfreude, and therefore we are not okay with that.
The incidental music is probably the best and funniest part of the film. It is poorly chosen. Very poorly chosen. Incredibly terribly poorly chosen. If Colin and Ryan were playing the Improv game World’s Worst and they had to pick the World’s Worst background music for a movie, they would improv this movie. The music almost never matches the action, and it clashes in the most inappropriate ways. Schadenfruede galore!
The star is Misty Ayres, one of the Burlesque Queens of the forties and fifties. She is magnificent, and she is the entire reason for the film, if you ask those creepy guys in the back rows of the Theater when this premiered. Thankfully, we get a lot of her, starting just two minutes thirty into the film.
Bad Girls Do Cry give us lots to enjoy; inexplicable characters, classic vaudeville joke bits done poorly, stock footage and stereotypes galore! And the girls! There are a limited amount of women to ogle in this one, but for the Fifties we see plenty! We get a pool scene, a catfight, numerous undressing scenes and even a sitting room full of suburban prostitutes! This a great introduction to a genre we just know you’ll grow to love to hate as much as we do!
Some fun stuff particular to this flick are:
Herbert the Insurance guy.
The music, Man!
The slowest car chase in the world.

The symbology of the reticent homosexual is the most surface aspect of Bad Girls Do Cry, though the chaining of the female sexuality by the use of Violent stereotypes and lingerie is indeed the over message for our subconscious. This is a billboard for the Masochistic Hierarchy of Gender criminals and Sexist warmongers, who preach the subjugation and control of women by the psychological fetishism of clothes, shoes and purses.
